Shinyanga Region is situated south of Lake Victoria at distance varying from 30 to 60 km from the shorelines. It forms part of what used to be known as Sukuma-Land . It lies between 31 0 14' and 35 0 11' Eastern longitude and between 2 0 15' and 4 o 30' Southern latitude. It is in the North Western part of Tanzania. In the Eastern part, it shares its borders with Arusha Region, in the North East with Mara and Mwanza Regions and in the North-West it borders with Kagera Region while in the West it border to Kigoma Region.
